Notes from 5/6

Here: Steve, John, Felicia, Colin, Shawn, Jake, Sam, Ryan

Snocap needs the music in either MP3 or WMA format. WMA files are able to be locked down when someone downloads them, and they can only make 10 CD copies. MP3 is unrestricted, which will be better for us because it doesnt cause problems for people with Macs.

We will set the price for downloads at 99 cents per song, snocap will take 39 cents, leaving us 60 cents per song. we can also set the price for the whole CD, which we can make cheaper than buying each track seperate.

Contract has been signed by the band, Ryan and Steve will sign it and make copies for each of the band memebers and for record at the college.

SR form is ready to be sent in for copyright- for unpublished CDs they need 1 phonorecord. the current fee is $45- is this for each track or for the whole album?
Steve will call John Coon, Jake- keep researching

Mastering will be done tomorrow at 10am, takes around 1-1.5 hours. Colin will have the final copy tomorrow afternoon. We need 3 copies at least for now- one for duplicates, one for Doug for snocap, and one for copyright.

Next meeting- monday at 2
By the next meeting we will have the master done, research done for SR form, the website to look at, and we will be ready to load music onto Snocap.
Next week we will work on promotion, a release party, sending out stuff to radio stations...

The Myspace page has more stuff on it- a band bio, a link to the bands myspace, and more friends

We are going to wait to get in contact with radio stations untill we have CDs and other promotional things to send (buttons...)

Jake knows a local guy that makes buttons for cheap- get artwork ready for record lable and band to send to him

We looked at Zazzle.com some more, we need to make the logo bigger to go on T-shirts so it's not as pixled.
Also we need to regester for an account at Zazzle.

At the next meeting we will discuss plans for summer

Assignments:
Colin- Get 3 copies of the master, make artwork bigger for T-shirts
Jake- double check price for SR form - $45 for album, or for each track?, talk to the button guy

Next meeting- Monday at 2

Notes from 4/30

Here: Ryan, Jake, Shawn, Colin, Felicia, Steve

we went over the contract, Colin will take it to the other guys in the band and have them sign it. Steve and Ryan will then sign it for the lable.

Snocap.com charges 39 cents per download, and you can set your own price for each download.

Next week in class we will check out zazzle.com, put artwork on the site and look at merch

The website is done, Todd got the files from Colin. He made a splash page to lead to the site.
To record it will cost $50 an hour- the seven songs we have will take around 1.5 hours

Everyone in class filled out the paper work to get credit hours for the class, choose 1 or 3 credits

Record Blog

Nice job everyone getting the blog up and running - Logo is looking great. We need to get with Keeler and get the web hosting / domain name squared away, so we can link from the blog to the site and start posting our web pages soon. I am very excited about this new direction for Cayuga Records. Thanks for including me in the blog - Fedy
